Our Pick of the Top 3 Reds

(updated August 08, 2024)

(As with any form of alcohol, drink responsibly and set limits.)

Cab, Pinot, or Malbec?

Cabernet, Pinot Noir, and Malbec are all red wines.

However, they differ in their taste, aroma, and origin. Cabernet is one of the most popular wine varietals in the world and is known for its full-bodied taste, rich tannins, and intense flavors of blackberry, currant, and spice.

It’s typically grown in regions with a warmer climate, such as California, and pairs well with red meats, game, and hard cheeses.

Lighter-Bodied?

On the other hand, Pinot Noir is a lighter-bodied wine with softer tannins and a fruitier flavor profile.

It’s grown in cooler climates, such as Oregon U.S.A., and Burgundy France, and its flavors can range from cherry and raspberry to earthy undertones.

Pinot Noir pairs well with dishes; such as roasted chicken, mushroom risotto, and grilled salmon.

Or Full-Bodied?

Malbec is a full-bodied wine that originated in France but is now primarily produced in Argentina.

It has dark fruit flavors, such as blackberry and plum, and is known for its smooth tannins and rich, deep color.

It pairs well with hearty dishes like grilled meats, stews, and hard cheeses.

Cabernet is known for its intense, full-bodied taste, Pinot Noir for its lighter body and fruitier flavor profile, and Malbec for its smooth tannins and rich, dark fruit flavors.

Each wine varietal has unique characteristics and can be paired with different types of food to enhance its taste.

The spicy taste of the Cabernet and the full-bodied flavor of the Malbec wine is what we love the most. We enjoy grilled meat and those pair best with beef. We like the Pinot if we are having a chicken dish or pasta. We enjoy a glass of wine after work, with a snack, or at dinner.

It is a great way to relax and reflect upon the day, sharing stories with family and friends and looking forward to what the next day will bring.

Again as always, be responsible when drinking…stick to one glass and do not drink and drive.
